Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: 15 January 2026  ·  Effective: 15 January 2026  ·  Chronofeld, Johor Bahru, Malaysia

1. Definitions

2. Acceptance of Terms

By depositing a timepiece with Chronofeld or by accepting a service quotation, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions. You must be at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into a service agreement.

If you are depositing a timepiece on behalf of another person, you confirm that you have the authority to do so and that the terms herein apply to that person as well.

3. Service Description

Chronofeld offers three service tiers — Essential Service, Caliber Overhaul, and Collector's Restoration — as described on our website and communicated during the assessment process. The specific scope of each service is confirmed in writing before work commences.

Services are available to clients in Malaysia and are subject to availability. We reserve the right to decline work that falls outside our technical capability or that we consider inappropriate for the condition of the timepiece.

4. Quotation and Agreement

All work at Chronofeld is preceded by a written quotation. No service work begins without the Client's explicit agreement to the scope and cost. Prices shown on our website are starting figures; final pricing depends on the condition of the timepiece and parts required.

If additional work becomes necessary during service, we will contact the Client for approval before proceeding. Work will not exceed the agreed scope without a new, separate agreement.

5. Payment Terms

Payment is due in full upon collection of the serviced timepiece. Accepted payment methods include cash, bank transfer, and selected electronic payment methods available at the atelier. Currency is Malaysian Ringgit (MYR).

A deposit may be requested for Collector's Restoration work or where significant parts costs are involved. This will be stated in the quotation. Deposits are non-refundable in the event of cancellation after parts have been ordered.

6. Service-Specific Terms

Essential Service: Covers the specific items listed in the service description. Any additional work identified during assessment is quoted separately and requires separate agreement.

Caliber Overhaul: Worn parts identified during disassembly will be replaced as part of the service. The Client will be informed of significant replacements in the service summary provided at collection.

Collector's Restoration: The scope is defined collaboratively during the consultation phase. Agreed documentation will accompany the returned timepiece. Changes to scope during the restoration will be discussed and confirmed in writing before being undertaken.

7. Turnaround Times

Estimated completion times provided at quotation stage are guides, not binding commitments. Delays may arise due to parts sourcing, discovery of additional complications, or workshop scheduling. Chronofeld will communicate promptly if an estimate requires revision.

8. Client Responsibilities

9. Uncollected Timepieces

If a timepiece remains uncollected for more than 60 days following completion notification and reasonable contact attempts have been made, Chronofeld reserves the right to charge a storage fee or, after 180 days, to treat the item as abandoned in accordance with applicable Malaysian law.

10. Intellectual Property

All content on the Chronofeld website — including text, photography, and design — is the property of Chronofeld or its licensors. Reproduction without written permission is not permitted. Service documentation provided to Clients for their own records is for personal use only.

11. Disclaimers

Chronofeld provides services with reasonable skill and care. We do not offer specific performance outcomes as an absolute result, as the condition of aged or damaged movements can present unforeseen factors even after thorough assessment.

We are watchmakers, not valuers. Service work does not constitute a valuation of the timepiece and should not be treated as such.

12. Limitation of Liability

Chronofeld's liability in connection with any service is limited to the cost of that service. We are not liable for indirect losses, consequential damages, or claims arising from the sentimental or collector value of a timepiece unless caused by demonstrable negligence on our part.

Force majeure events — including but not limited to flood, fire, theft, or civil disruption — that result in damage to or loss of a deposited timepiece will be assessed on a case-by-case basis in good faith.

13. Dispute Resolution

In the event of a concern or complaint, we encourage Clients to contact us directly in the first instance. We are committed to resolving matters through open conversation before any formal process is considered.

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Johor, Malaysia.

14. Changes to These Terms

Chronofeld may revise these terms from time to time. Updated terms will be published on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of our services following an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
