What Makes the Difference at a Proper Watchmaker's Bench
Some things are worth choosing carefully — and who touches your watch is one of them.

Why Clients Return to Chronofeld
Formally Trained Watchmakers
Our lead watchmaker holds certification from a recognised horological institution and has accumulated more than 15 years of post-training workshop experience across different movement families.
Professional Workshop Equipment
We use a timing machine, ultrasonic cleaning bath, water-resistance tester, and proper calibrated lubrication systems. These are not optional — they are what the work requires.
Honest, Patient Communication
We take the time to explain what we found and what we intend to do. Clients who understand the situation make better decisions — and that suits everyone.
Transparent, Agreed Pricing
The cost is discussed and agreed before work starts. If unexpected parts or complications emerge during service, we contact the client before proceeding — never after.
Respect for Originality
For vintage and collector watches, we preserve patina, original components, and historical character wherever the owner's wishes and technical requirements allow.
Direct Access, Local Workshop
You can walk in, meet the watchmaker, discuss the piece in person, and collect it yourself. No couriers, no third parties, no uncertainty about who handled your watch.
Expertise
Horological Training That Translates to Better Work
There is a meaningful difference between someone who has learned to change a battery and someone who has studied the principles of timekeeping, escapement geometry, and lubrication science. Our watchmakers have done both — the academic foundation and years of practical experience across calibers ranging from entry-level Japanese movements to complex Swiss complications.
- Certified horological training
- Experience with Swiss, Japanese, and German calibers
- Specialist knowledge of vintage and collector pieces
"The watchmaker looked at my Longines for about ten minutes and then explained — calmly and clearly — exactly what had gone wrong with the keyless works. Nobody had done that before."
— Collector client, Johor Bahru
"They showed me the timing machine printout after the overhaul. It was running within two seconds per day — better than when I first bought it."
— Caliber Overhaul client, Kulai
Workshop Tools
Equipment That Makes Verification Possible
A watchmaker without proper instruments is working partly by feel. We invest in the tools that allow us to measure, verify, and confirm — not just assume. Timing accuracy is not estimated; it is checked. Pressure resistance is not assumed because the gasket looks new; it is tested under controlled conditions.
- Multiposition timing machine
- Ultrasonic cleaning system
- Water resistance pressure tester
- Calibrated lubricants by movement type
Client Experience
A Workshop Where You Are Informed, Not Hurried
We know that leaving a watch — particularly a valuable or sentimental one — with any workshop requires a degree of trust. We try to earn that trust through consistent communication: explaining what we found at assessment, letting you know if the timeline changes, and welcoming questions at any stage of the process.
- Walk-in assessments welcome
- Progress updates for longer work
- All questions welcomed before, during, and after
"They called me partway through the restoration to describe something they had found on the movement plate. I appreciated that they asked before doing anything about it."
— Restoration client, Johor Bahru
All pricing confirmed during assessment. No hidden additions.
Pricing
Fair Value for Work Done Properly
Our pricing reflects the time, skill, and materials involved in watchmaking done carefully. We are not the cheapest option in Johor Bahru — and we do not try to be. We are, however, clear about what we charge and why. Clients can see the service tiers and pricing before making any commitment.
Outcomes
A Watch That Runs Well and Lasts Longer
The measure of any service is what happens afterward. A well-serviced mechanical watch, properly lubricated and timed, should run accurately for several years before needing attention again. A restoration, handled with care and the right materials, can bring a dormant piece back into daily use — or at least into a condition worthy of a display case.
- Movements adjusted to manufacturer rate specifications
- Calibrated lubricants extend movement longevity
- Restoration work documented for future reference

What Sets Us Apart
Distinctive Features of the Chronofeld Approach
Research-Informed Restoration
Collector pieces are approached with reference materials — technical manuals, period photographs, and movement records where available. We do not attempt to restore what we cannot first understand.
No Work Without Consent
If something changes during a service — an unexpected worn part, a decision point about approach — we stop and contact the client. We proceed only when the client is informed and agrees.
Walk-In First Consultation
You can bring your watch in without an appointment for a brief initial look. We will share our observations and suggest a path forward — without any pressure to proceed on the day.
Long-Term Perspective
We try to help clients understand not just today's issue but the condition of the watch more broadly — so that future care decisions are made with better information.
